Italy: online gaming revenue up 25.4%

Revenue from the regulated online market reached €184m in September.

Italy.- Growth in sports betting and igaming drove online gaming revenue in the regulated Italian market to increase by 25.4 per cent year-on-year in September.

Online revenue for last month hit €184m, with online casino the largest contributor.

The figures from Ficom Leisure show that despite a month-on-month drop of 2.2 per cent, online casino revenue climbed 29.2 per cent year-on-year to €92.7m in September.

Flutter Entertainment’s PokerStars led the way, accounting for 12.2 per cent of revenue, followed by Sisal (8.2 per cent) and Lottomatica (7.9 per cent).

The figures come as Flutter Entertainment has warned it may remove its Betfair betting exchange from the Italian market due to Italy’s temporary new tax on sports betting turnover.
