JOB: Virginia Lottery Responsible Gambling Coordinator

Responsible Gambling Coordinator

For more than 30 years, the Virginia Lottery has been building an amazing organization committed to growth and giving back – and having fun while doing it.  Operating entirely on revenue from game sales, rather than tax dollars, the Virginia Lottery generates approximately $1.6 million per day for Virginia’s K-12 public schools.  The Virginia Lottery is being assigned new responsibilities to license and regulate casino gaming and mobile sports betting.

The Virginia Lottery, an independent state agency, is currently seeking a Responsible Gambling Coordinator to join its newly created Gaming Compliance Department.

The Responsible Gambling Coordinator will:

  • Develop, implement and maintain the evaluation of best practices regarding responsible gambling, problem gambling prevention and the voluntary exclusion program.
  • Develop and maintain a voluntary exclusion data base of all participants.
  • Work with and provide training to the appropriate judicial systems to ensure appropriate action is taken for exclusion violations.
  • Respond to subpoena requests for records and documentation.
  • Testify at hearings and recommend appropriate action.
  • Assist the sports betting and casino operators in developing community awareness of problem gambling.
  • Participate in collaborative public awareness campaigns for holiday periods and problem gambling awareness month.
  • Collaborate with appropriate state agencies and organizations such as the National Council on Problem Gambling, and the National Association of State and Provincial Lotteries to determine best practices.
  • Partner with marketing to ensure ethical and responsible marketing.
  • Participate and present at Problem Gambling Conferences.
  • Assist sports betting operators and casinos in the development and review of a strategic plan that includes polices, programs and procedures to address problem gambling.
  • Perform other duties as required or assigned.
