ATHENS--Greece's new government is set to replace the heads of several state-linked companies, ranging from state-owned electric utility, Public Power Corporation SA (PPC.AT) to betting company OPAP SA (OPAP.AT), protothema.gr website reports Wednesday.
According to the report, PPC Chairman Arthouros Zernos and Vice Chairman Konstantinos Theos were chosen by the previous prime minister and previous Socialist Pasok leader George Papandreou and they are expected to be replaced.
The chief executive officer of the gambling monopoly OPAP, Ioannis Spanoudakis, is also expected to be replaced by former Finance Minister Yannis Papathanasiou, the report said.
The leadership of the state's bank rescue fund, Hellenic Financial Stability Fund, may also change, as the completion of the recapitalization of Greek banks is imminent.
Traditionally, with every change of government in Greece, the incoming government appoints new leaders for state-linked companies.
Earlier Wednesday, the chairman of Greece's privatization agency, Ioannis Koukiadis, resigned for "strictly personal" reasons.
According to the statement by the agency, Koukiadis submitted his resignation to Greece's interim Finance Minister George Zannias last week. Koukiadis has served as chairman of the Hellenic Republic Asset Development Fund, the privatization agency, since its inception on July 29, 2011.
