The Albanian Ministry of Finance offers licenses for foreign applicants. A heavy dispute occurs. The Austrian Lotteries apply for a lottery licences in Albania and faces competition from Italy. The Albanian government offers a 10-year license to foreign applicants.
According to the Italian news agency ANSA, the Lottomatica Group and ist subsidiary Gtech participate in the tender. Lottomatica has founded a consortium with the Czech Synot company.
The tender is highly disputed. The Greek lottery company Intralot and the Turkish Inteltec blame the Albanian Ministry of Finance to have decided in favor oft he Austrian Lotteries. The Greek and Turkish competitors argued that the transparency criteria were not fulfilled. Intralot and Inteltec withdrew from the tender.
