ATLANTIC CITY -- A vote in the New Jersey Assembly on whether to allow Atlantic City casino patrons to use portable hand-held devices to gamble while on casino property has been postponed until Monday. The Assembly had planned to take a final vote on the bill Thursday afternoon. Members decided to put it off until next week to consider several amendments.The devices would let casino patrons gamble while at a swimming pool, in line for a restaurant, or in their hotel rooms, among other places. One possible amendment would prohibit their use in casino parking garages.New Jersey is moving quickly to expand the number of gambling options it offers as part of its strategy to help the struggling Atlantic City market. It's also considering Internet and sports betting.
