Danish Gaming Authority names new director

Spillemyndigheden has appointed Anders Dorph as director from November 1.

Denmark.- The Danish Gaming Authority, Spillemyndigheden, has confirmed Anders Dorph will replace Morten Niels Jakobsen as director.

Dorph has been approved by the Danish government to take up the role on November 1. He previously served as deputy director of the Danish Immigration Service.

He said: “Spillemyndigheden is an exciting agency that plays an important role in the regulation of the gaming market. That is why I’m very much looking forward to the task and to collaboration with many talented colleagues.”

Denmark’s minister of taxation, Morten Bødskov, said: “Anders Dorph has an extremely wide professional profile with broad experience from politically led organisations and cooperation across authorities. I look forward to benefiting from his experience.”

Morten Niels Jakobsen, the previous director of the gaming authority, stepped down in August to become director of the Danish Valuation Agency (Vurderingsstyrelsen), which is responsible for the public assessment of land and property values.

Spillemyndigheden reported a 19.2 per cent fall in gambling revenue in the first half of 2020 due to the impact of the Covid-19 pandemic on land-based gaming and sports betting.
