"LOTTO Rhineland-Palatinate is and will remain a model of success for many - even after more than 70 years of existence," said Managing Director Jürgen Häfner. In 2019 the "Glücksschmiede" achieved total sales of 375.6 million euros under the self-formulated model adjectives "sporty - social - safe" - a little less than in the previous year (379.8 million euros), but still significantly more than in the Year 2017 (363 million euros). "This means that after a year of stabilization, the continuous upward trend will continue consistently," explained Jürgen Häfner. “In what is still a challenging environment, LOTTO Rheinland-Pfalz is continuing on its way, strengthening the tried and tested and establishing new things with a sense of proportion. As a result, the company stands for the common good-oriented gaming industry in Rhineland-Palatinate and thus fulfills the overriding state channeling mandate, ”stated the Chairman of the Supervisory Board, State Secretary Dr. Stephan Weinberg. It is therefore to be welcomed that the state lottery monopoly will be secured and strengthened in the draft of the State Treaty on Gambling 2021.

• Total turnover of 375.6 million euros

With a turnover of 375.6 million euros and an annual surplus of almost 668,000 euros, the Koblenz gaming company LOTTO Rheinland -Pfalz completed the year 2019. The balance sheet profit from annual surplus and profit carried forward amounts to a total of around 1.2 million euros. This was communicated via video conference at a balance sheet press conference.

Product development

The positive development of the traditional LOTTO 6aus49 was particularly emphasized. After a few years of decline, the trend reversal was achieved in 2019 and growth of 3.9 percent was achieved. This makes it clear that the classic number lotteries appeal to the game participants. “With a careful product change in September of this year, which in addition to a more attractive profit plan also includes a stake adjustment from 1 euro to 1.20 euros, we will continue to develop the classic for the future.

Thus, the theoretical odds increase in all prize categories, even with a simple six without a super number, significantly more million prizes will then be possible; in addition, the jackpot can rise more quickly into the double-digit million range and grow to a maximum of 45 million euros, ”announced Jürgen Häfner.

The betting curve of the still relatively young Eurojackpot lottery took a little breather last year due to the comparatively lower development of the jackpot. With a minus of around 14.7 percent, the stakes fell here to just under 68 million euros. Since last year there was an increase of 61 percent, one can speak of a consolidation at a high level.

Profit distribution

The total profit distribution from Lotto RheinlandPfalz in 2019 was around 224 million euros. A total of 55 players from Rhineland-Palatinate won amounts of 100,000 euros and more in 2019. Nine of them even won a million euros and more. Already on New Year's Day a Rheinhessen could look forward to one million euros in the New Year's Million. Two other lottery millionaires each come from Rheinhessen and the Rhineland and four from the Palatinate. The highest profit was secured by a player from the southern Palatinate with 63.2 million euros in the Eurojackpot. With this, he also took first place in the winner's hit list in Germany.

Charges for the common good
Lotto Rheinland-Pfalz was able to make an enormous contribution to the common good again in 2019: The state of Rhineland-Palatinate received more than 125 million euros from taxes and income from the state lotteries. "That is over 343,000 euros every day - money without which the implementation of many projects that are fundamentally important for society as a whole would not be possible," emphasized Managing Director Jürgen Häfner.

Many organizations for the common good in Rhineland-Palatinate were also winners. The revenue from the lotteries, GlücksSpirale, Sieger-Chance and BINGO! a total of around 4.3 million euros directly to numerous beneficiaries.

At GlücksSpirale, in addition to the representatives from sport (German Olympic Sports Association, German Sports Aid Foundation, State Sports Association Rhineland-Palatinate and Sporthilfe Rhineland-Palatinate Foundation), these are the Federal Working Group for Free Welfare, the German Foundation for Monument Protection, and the Rhineland-Palatinate Nature and Environment Foundation and the Landesmusikrat Rheinland-Pfalz. At BINGO! In addition to the Nature and Environment Foundation, this is the State Development Network (ELAN).

Together with the Lotto Foundation, Lotto Rheinland-Pfalz has also been collecting funds for needy children from Rhineland-Palatinate under the umbrella of the “Kinderglück” initiative since 2008. Last year the magical limit of two million euros in donations was reached. "This social commitment proves the company's strong roots in and responsibility for the country," emphasizes Dr. Stephan Weinberg.

Balanced sales channels

LOTTO Rheinland-Pfalz was also able to continue the positive trend in the online area in 2019. Over 24.6 million euros in stakes were generated via www.lotto-rlp.de . This is the highest turnover since the company has also made its game offerings available on the Internet.

“Our biggest success factor is still the 930 LOTTO acceptance points. Through this we also make an enormous contribution to channeling in rural areas, ”said Jürgen Häfner, who rightly pointed out that LOTTO Rhineland-Palatinate is the largest chain store in the state and is therefore represented in every fourth local municipality. The company's approximately 180 employees, the eight district offices and the approximately 5,200 employees in the acceptance points are still the basis for the state gaming offering to maintain its strong position in Rhineland-Palatinate.

Current development

At the balance sheet press conference, Managing Director Jürgen Häfner also briefly discussed the current situation in the first half of 2020: "Since shopping behavior has changed during the corona pandemic, customers at Lotto 6aus49, the Eurojackpot and the Additional lotteries also include our offer of multi-week tickets or subscription games.

The chairman of the supervisory board, Dr. Stephan Weinberg and Managing Director Jürgen Häfner on the current sales development in the current financial year, which is around 8.5% above the previous year's value across all products.

outlook

In 2020, LOTTO Rheinland-Pfalz will continue to campaign for appropriate framework conditions on the German gaming market in its second year as the lead block partner in the German Lotto and Totoblock. In the current discussion about the State Treaty on Gaming in 2021, the company will continue to represent the interests of the companies of the German Lotto and Totoblock nationwide in the current year.

But the company will also continue to play an important role at the state level. "As in the past decades, the sporty, social and secure Glücksschmiede will continue to be able to meet its social responsibility for the common good as a partner of sport, promoter of culture and supporter of social initiatives and environmental projects," said Jürgen Häfner in conclusion.
